Let Rensselaer Dentists give you a movie star smile!
For decades movie stars have known that veneers could transform a less than ordinary smile into an unforgettable one. Cosmetic dentistry is not only for movie stars anymore but for ordinary people like you and me. You may think this is a frivolous indulgence but actually in today's society it is becoming a necessity. Why? People realize that having a great smile can make them appear more attractive and youthful. A person with a great smile exudes an air of confidence which is a great asset to have in social and business situations. Rensselaer veneers will help give you the define edge in society and business.
What are veneers?
Veneers are made of two different kinds of materials, porcelain and resin composite. Rensselaer porcelain veneers are custom made by a technician in a lab whereas resin composite veneers are formed and placed directly onto the front of the tooth by Rensselaer dentists.
Porcelain veneers are most often used in more severe cases like cracks or chips on the teeth, teeth misalignments and gaps in the teeth. Resin composites veneers are usually reserved for less severe cases of discoloration and minor chips or cracking of the teeth.
Porcelain veneers are wafer thin shells bonded to the front of your teeth with a cement. When the veneers are placed on the teeth, they can change the color, tooth shape and size of the tooth. The porcelain veneers generally resist stain better than resin composite but require more of the tooth enamel to be removed than the resin composite veneers.
Who can benefit from veneers?
Rensselaer veneers correct many cosmetic imperfections such as wide gaps between teeth, misaligned and discolored teeth and cracked or chipped teeth. Rensselaer Veneers also can protect teeth from cavities by correcting these cosmetic imperfections. For example, having wide gaps between teeth can invite bacteria to reside between the teeth and cause gum disease as well as cavities.
The choice to get veneers is not the correct decision for everyone, for example discolored teeth may be better corrected by a Rensselaer teeth whitening procedure rather than veneers. On the other hand if your teeth are discolored and misshapen, veneers should be the treatment of choice. To better assess your dental problem make an appointment and Rensselaer Dentists will evaluate your teeth and develop the right cosmetic treatment plan for you.
How Rensselaer veneers are put on your teeth
The procedure of putting on Rensselaer porcelain veneers will require three dental visits. The first visit will consist of a consultation with Rensselaer Dentist Jordan Balvich. This visit will be to determine if veneers are the right choice for you as well as discuss what expectations you have in veneers. A carefully planned treatment will then be constructed for you. The next visit will be for permanent removal of the enamel on the tooth or teeth. This removal is accomplished with a drilling burr device. Before drilling begins the dentist will discuss with you whether you would prefer anesthesia. After removal of the tooth enamel an impression is made of the tooth or teeth to be treated. If there is a lot of enamel that has been removed sometimes a temporary veneer is placed on the tooth or teeth. Usually 1.5mm of enamel is taken off which is the thickness of the permanent veneer to be placed on front of the tooth or teeth. After two weeks a custom made veneer is made for each tooth in treatment. The dentist will then shape and reshape the veneer until a perfect shape and color of tooth has been achieved. The color of the tooth is adjusted by the bonding material used to cement the veneer to your tooth or teeth. This bonding material is cured by a light source which activates the bonding properties of the cement. Rensselaer Dentists will adjust and refine the veneers to ensure that you have the perfect smile you always wanted.
Resin composite veneers are placed immediately in the patient’s mouth during the next visit after the consultation visit. Like the porcelain veneer the tooth enamel is permanently removed but resin composites require less removal of tooth enamel than the porcelain veneers. The composite resin veneer is placed in front of the tooth after being formed by the Rensselaer dentist and this is followed by a curing procedure similar to porcelain veneers.
Porcelain versus composite resin
Whether you get porcelain or composite resin veneers there are several factors to consider porcelain or composite resin veneers there are several factors to consider.
